Melancthon Township is a rural community in the northwest corner of Dufferin County located north and west of Shelburne. Arterial Roads are County Road 124, Highway 10 and Highway 89.

Farming is the main occupation and growing and marketing potatoes is the major industry.

 Within the Township there are three Hamlets – Horning’s Mill (the largest), Corbetton and Riverview.Horning’s Mill has remains quite untouched. Most of the buildings were constructed between 1850 – 1880 and are in fantastic condition located in the Pine River Valley, surrounded by prime farmland and the Niagara Escarpment.

 Market InThe Mills, 164 Main Street, is owned and operated by Connie & Kevin Turner who are honoured to carry on the great tradition of the general store in Horning's Mills. Market InThe Mills originated from the concept of serving the community as the early settlers did over 150 years ago.  Their mission is to provide customers with a large, local artisan market, fresh baked goods (bread, tarts, cookies, muffins and more), produce, quality prepared meals and a large selection of grocery and snack items at fair prices. Melancthon is home to Austerfield Apiary Honey & Botanicals, Kidd Farms and Lennox Farm.

 Library service available in Shelburne at the Shelburne Public Library and in Dundalk at the Southgate Ruth Hargrave Memorial Library.Recreation/Arenas are in Shelburne – The Centre Dufferin Recreation Complex and in Dundalk at the Dundalk Community Centre.

A bin is available at the Municipal Office for electronic recycling.  Mulmur/Melancthon Fire Department will be transferring emergency dispatching from Orangeville Police (OPS) to Tillsonburg Fire Dispatching Services as of July 27, 2020.
