The Town of Shelburne is located at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 89 in the middle of Dufferin County. Shelburne is the fastest growing Town in Ontario and the second-fastest growing Town in all of Canada.It is best known for the Canadian Championship Fiddling Contest;part of the Heritage Music Festival.
The Town was first established in anticipation of the Toronto, Grey and Bruce Railway. Founder, William Jellybuilt a tavern the “British Canadian House” in the 1860s. The early commercial buildings were log and wood structures most of which were destroyed by fire in the late 1880s. For recreation there are a variety of green spaces and urban parks for hiking and cycling, including a BMX park. The Centre Dufferin RecreationComplex has a seasonal heated outdoor pool and an arena for hockey and figure skating. Both the pool and arena can be rented.
